For the first time in more than 40 years, Clatsop County Development will update plans regarding estuarine resources, coastal shorelands, and beaches and dunes.

Primary Election Schedule; Post Office Change Impacts Deadlines

Clatsop County Clerk Tracie Krevanko is alerting the public about U.S. Post Office changes that could affect whether mailed voter registration cards and election ballots will arrive by deadlines.

“Now that all mail postmarking is now being done in Portland, we encourage Clatsop County voters who choose to mail in their voter registration card or election ballots to put them in the mail at least five days prior to any deadline. We want to make sure every vote counts,” she said.

“We also encourage people to register to vote online at the Oregon Secretary of State’s My Vote webpage and to drop their election ballots at one of Clatsop County election ballot dropbox locations,” she said.

Clatsop County Voices: Betty Cunningham

Clatsop County has been collecting your stories for our Clatsop County Voices campaign.

It was a pleasure to chat with Betty Cunningham about the many adventures she had growing up and living here in Clatsop County.

We packed in as many of the fun stories as we could.

Betty says she has seen other places and she thinks Astoria is the #1 place to grow up.

In this episode she reminisced with Public Affairs Officer PJ Angelini about being a kid and playing at Wilson’s Shipyard in Smith Point and about her first job at St. Mary’s Catholic Hospital.

She talked about picnicking in Cannon Beach and hanging out in Seaside as a teenager.

You have to listen to the end… she really spills the tea!

Listen to Betty and PJ's conversation, and more.

We invite residents to send stories and photos of family memories that have been passed through generations or a personal recollection of a major event that happened in Clatsop County.

Share your story four ways:

  1. Call 503-325-7870 and record your story
  2. Record a conversation with a family member and upload the audio file
  3. Email communications@clatsopcounty.gov to request an interview
  4. Write up your story and send it to: Clatsop County; 800 Exchange St., Suite 410; Astoria, OR 97103 or communications@clatsopcounty.gov

Stories will be posted through June 30 at the Clatsop County Voices webpage. After that the County will donate them to the Clatsop County Historical Society.
